CENTRAL TIBET AND THE MIGHTY EVEREST This tour follows old trade routes that link the northern and southern side of the Himalaya with Kathmandu and Lhasa. Times have changed and instead of caravans today the Friendship Highway leads the way.After a short stay in Kathmandu, where you visit some of the highlights, you depart with a short but spectacular flight over Everest and Makalu to reach Tsedang and then Lhasa.The capital of Tibet has seen may changes but preserves its religious and cultural heritage as the center of the Tibetan people till today despite all odds.Along the high plateau you travel to Yamdrok Tso and the glacier stunned Karo La pass along the old trade route to the characteristic city of Gyantse and the immense monastic city of Tashilumpo in Shigatse. Finally passing Sakya you cross the Gyatso La (5220 m) which brings you into the high Himalaya. Here the mighty peaks of the Chomolongma or Everest range tower above the monastery of Rongphu. Now crossing more passes with spectacular views on mighty peaks like  Cho Oyu and Shisha Pangma bring you to Nepal. Descend the Bhote Koshi valley into Nepal  to return to the valley of Kathmandu.
