NEPAL: MAKALU BASE CAMP TREK This beautiful trek brings us to the heart of the Makalu-Barun National Park, renown for its diverse flora and fauna.After a short introduction of the Kathmandu valley you will fly to Tumlingtar in the Sankhuwasabha district south of the Makalu 8463m. Along the Arun river via hamlet, alpine meadows and huts we trek to the Shipton pass. Just below it the subtropical landscape changes dramatically into an alpine one.  From here the mountains and glaciers of the Himalayas will accompany us up to the base camp of Makalu 4870m.Everest Chamlang and Barun are impressively visible. The return journey leads over the Shipton pass but then on an alternative trail along the Arun back to Tumlingtar from where we fly back to Kathmandu.
